Final Frontier Festival V: In A World
Gadfly is bringing back our annual hit one act festival set around geeky themes and following our intersectionally queer and feminist mission to smash the patriarchy, break binaries, and create art that tells uniquely universal stories full of laughter, tears and queerness.
This year we are auditioning actors for FIVE different plays, all with different directors and needs on Tuesday, August 27th from 6-10 PM. Gadfly likes to create all queer casts and crews whenever possible, and is especially interested in working with artists of color, trans and non-binary artists, and artists who have been otherwise excluded from mainstream art due to income level, accessibility needs, education or experience level or other marginalizing factors. This production requires actors of various ages, genders, and races.
Stipend for MOST plays is $100.
Responsibilities include coming to two tech rehearsals between November 4th-7th, performing three times between November 8th and November 17th, coming to ONE company mixer prior to tech week (date TBD) and coming to rehearsals assigned by your individual director(s). The only other responsibility is cooperating with marketing associates when necessary so we can get butts in seats for your show!
If interested and feel you fit what we're looking for, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to set up a time slot on August 27th. No experience necessary, but if you have a resume please send it. Auditions will consist of a monologue NO LONGER THAN 60 seconds and sides from various scripts.
Gadfly Has An Open Submission Policy
You can submit scripts to Gadfly at any time for consideration in future seasons. Right now we are only interested in stories BY trans and non-binary people, queer POC, and queer female playwrights. We can not respond with a "no, sorry" to every play, and we do not provide feedback on scripts. We do read everything that fits the guidelines below. If we want to produce your work, we will reach out in plenty of time to get rights and other contract details squared away.
Be both queer and feminist in nature and content
Be full lenth (60 minutes or longer) plays. No one-acts or ten minute plays will be considered for mainstage work
Feature less than EIGHT actors (big casts with double-casting is fine) and have as few set/dress/tech requirements as possible
Be submitted in .pdf format to email@example.com Please include the title of the play in the subject line and a brief synopsis of the play in the body of the email
