Cast and Crew Positions Needed for 60 Queer Plays in 90 Queer Minutes
60 Queer Plays in 90 Queer Minutes will be a fast-paced journey full of stories by and for queer people happening in March.
We are looking for:
If you're interested in writer-performer or performer roles we have auditions at the Lunds Community Room in Uptown on August 19th from 6-9. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a slot at either 6:00 PM or 7:30 PM. Be prepared to work with a small team to outline/write and perform a couple of 1-2 minute plays. Please submit a (VERY SHORT) writing sample and actor resume and headshot with your e-mail.
For tech roles, please just send a resume and when you're available to meet in the next couple of weeks to email@example.com.
For marketing, please send a short letter of inquiry with links to social media campaigns or handles you have worked on plus a marketing resume.
If you don't have the requisite headshots/resumes/etc that's okay! Just talk to us and we still want to meet with you. This is a super exciting project and we are looking for LGBTQQIA2SP+ artists. We are especially interested in working with BIPOC artists and those who have been disenfranchised due to poverty, experience, disability, or access to education and resources.
***Please check conflicts prior to meeting. Writers will all meet monthly as determined by our schedules starting as soon as everyone is hired and cast. Technicians will have a monthly production meeting with additional meetings as necessary. Rehearsals run 4-5 evenings a week starting in Mid January. Reasonable conflicts will be honored, of course. Tech week begins March 10th and all are required all evenings (except arguably the marketing associate). Performances are March 15-17th and 21st-24th. All performances are at 7:30 except Sundays which are at 3:00 PM. There are talkbacks on each Friday performance.***
Gadfly Has An Open Submission Policy
You can submit scripts to Gadfly at any time for consideration in future seasons. Right now we are only interested in stories BY trans and non-binary people, queer POC, and queer female playwrights. We can not respond with a "no, sorry" to every play, and we do not provide feedback on scripts. We do read everything that fits the guidelines below. If we want to produce your work, we will reach out in plenty of time to get rights and other contract details squared away.
Be both queer and feminist in nature and content
Be full lenth (60 minutes or longer) plays. No one-acts or ten minute plays will be considered for mainstage work
Feature less than EIGHT actors (big casts with double-casting is fine) and have as few set/dress/tech requirements as possible
Be submitted in .pdf format to firstname.lastname@example.org Please include the title of the play in the subject line and a brief synopsis of the play in the body of the email
